Informational Updates:
EACTC- Gail Viscome
Didn’t receive the grant they were hoping for to pay for crisis counselors. They are looking into other options.
Next Wed. 2pm Middle School Homework Helper training. That will start up this month, during flex period (1:55pm to 2:40pm).
High School is available for tutors as well.
Connections will be held at Cornerstone Youth Ministries
2 week pilot program (4 sessions).
A deeper program from Safe Projects to help with kids that go through Judge Miller that aren’t learning from community service.
Will be training Matt Weis (alternative ed teacher) to lead the program.
Scott Tyre- “No Matter What” movie
PAYS survey in November, and the results will be in May.
Rx Take Back at Giant October 25th from 10am to 2pm at Giant in Elizabethtown.
UCEA Community Cupboard- Steve Knox
3000+ individuals, 1000 households served this year. They are down from last year’s numbers and Steve believes from moving out of the community.
Summer food drives with the churches helped so much with keeping the shelves stocked.
Grant for a Double Cooler in process
Turkey Giveaway 12/13 at Elizabethtown Mennonite.
UCEA Meals on Wheels- Doug Lamb
Connie Trynovich, Net Lamb, and many other volunteers to get the meals to community members.
EASD- Jenn Fields
Is really encouraged by the the program EACTC is starting for students not being effected by community service.
PAYS Survey
Bear Bags- all volunteer driven and community funded. Shopping available once a week and food bags that go to the schools.
Has a new role at the district. She’s overseeing the 2 social workers and counselors. Look for a flyer from our email.
Homelessness- 27 students identified
Bear Bags- the bag program starts this month.
ECHOS- Jenn Fields
Winter Shelter opens 12/7 and first training for volunteers November 10th.
Cornerstone Youth Ministries- Jim Bush
Etown Fair was slower than normal, and they didn’t raise as much as normal. But they were able to have a matching donor that would match what they were estimating to
Open House 10/3/25 from 5pm to 8pm. Students will be giving the tour.
Part of the Faithful Give- The Bail Out will be during the Faithful Give October 19-21.
Chiques Church of the Brethren, RAISE, & Tenn Central will be partnering and giving out food boxes (donated from the church) November 24 (week of Thanksgiving). Cornerstone will be giving about 60-70 boxes out but receiving 150-200. So they will be doing a sign up for the Cornerstone students first and then giving out the rest to the community.
Ministerium Events:
The next ministerium meeting will be held on September 18th at The Marriage Hub for the Pastor’s Spiritual Enrichment & a light breakfast.
The next Social Outreach & Planning Meeting is scheduled for October 2nd.
